Why You Might Want an Xbox 360 Wireless Adapter

Wednesday, July 2nd, 2008

Since the Xbox 360 is able to communicate online, you have yourself a whole new world when it comes to gaming. Scoring gamer points and showing off how much of a gamer you are just starts to scratch the surface. But in order to experience all that the Xbox 360 has to offer online, you’re going to need a couple of things:

- Xbox 360 Wired or Wireless Adapter Whether you choose to wireless or stay wired, this adapter lets your Xbox 360 connect to the internet and keeps the fun going! You can find an Xbox 360 wireless adapter at any store that sells electronics and computer or gaming products.

If you choose to stay wired, you’ll be happy to know that the Xbox 360 comes equipped for that. But having wired Xbox live access means having to keep the console close to an internet line. So having an Xbox 360 wireless adapter can offer you the flexibility to play the Xbox 360 anywhere you choose.

- Xbox 360 Online Game Card Along with the good comes the bad, but you may be surprised to know that you have to pay to play. That’s right! On top of purchasing the $60 games to play on the console, you have to subscribe to be able to get online with the console. You’re looking at about $50 a year for access, but you’ll find that it’s worth it.

What am I Missing Without the Xbox Live Subscription?

Aside from what has previously been mentioned, you’ll find free and paid arcade game downloads. Think old school cobra and outrageously revamped favorites! Reviews for games, the ability to download additional content for purchased games and the ability to play games with other people simultaneously are all other things that make subscribing to Xbox live worth every penny.

What am I Missing Without an Xbox 360 Wireless Adapter?

Well, without an Xbox 360 wireless adapter, you’re missing the opportunity to truly experience what your Xbox 360 has to offer. With an adapter, you have the freedom to roam your home, take it with you on vacation and even sit out on the balcony with a small screen if you like!

Regardless of whether or not you usually play your console in one place, there is nothing sweeter than getting a wild hair and experiencing something new. Like say, while laying in bed in your underwear!

How to Write Xbox 360 Walkthroughs

Monday, June 30th, 2008

You just spent fifty hours working to defeat your most recent game purchase and now you want to share that information with others but have no idea where to start. Well, this article is here to help you write your Xbox 360 walkthroughs. By following the guidelines of this article you will be able to write many Xbox 360 walkthroughs for all the different games you beat

Starting Your Xbox 360 Walkthroughs

The first thing you want to do when writing your Xbox 360 walkthroughs is outline how the walkthrough is going to go. Start off with an introduction of who you are and why people should trust your walkthrough, then start to outline the different sections of the walkthrough.

The best way to break down your Xbox 360 walkthroughs is to have an initial section to outline game play, the game controls, and basically how to get around. You may want to include after this an equipment section if the game you are writing the walkthrough for encompasses this. Take each piece of equipment, talk about how it works and when you get it, where it is best used and so on.

After you have fully detailed all the different components of the game you are ready to start getting into your walkthrough. In the initial introduction in the outline for the entire article take each board or section within the game and give it a number. Write this out in logical order from the first board to the last board and make sure to have a section for each one.

Once you have the outline set you are ready to start writing. Turn on your Xbox 360, get out your pen and paper, and get ready to start recording. As you go through the board write down anything that is important to completing the section. You do not need to record every single thing about the board, but secret items, power ups, how to defeat sub bosses and such will be useful information. Make sure to record everything in chonological order as much as possible, although some game s with multiple paths make this difficult.

Probably the most important and most difficult thing to document in your Xbox 360 walkthroughs is how to defeat the end bosses. These are usually some of the greatest challenges in video games and if you can accurately record how to beat them you will have some very successful Xbox 360 walkthroughs.

That’s about it, follows those guidelines and you will have popular Xbox 360 walkthroughs in no time.

Xbox 360 vs PS3 Shootout

Saturday, June 28th, 2008

The two most powerful console gaming systems on the market are the Xbox 360 and the PS3. This article is going to compare the Xbox 360 vs PS3. While both systems have their plusses and minuses the only way to really make a decision on which is better is to put them head to head and look at the Xbox 360 vs PS3.

Xbox 360 vs PS3 – Which to Buy?

The first thing you want when getting a game system is game support. Currently both systems offer and extensive range of titles, however in the Xbox 360 vs PS3 battle the PS3 wins this first fight. There are simply more titles available and from a larger range of producers for the PS3.

However, one thing to not on the topic of available games, is that there is an extensive list of very popular games that are exclusively available for the Xbox 360. One of which has been voted the game of the year several times and continues to dominate the first person shooter gaming world – Halo 3. Unavailable on any other system, this title alone is almost reason enough to buy an Xbox 360.

Next up is reliability of the unit. The PS3 is built by Sony Corporation, known for many years for building solid and reliable electronic equipment. The Xbox 360 has been plagued since its launch by technical issues, although most of those appear to have been resolved at this point. For all the quality that Sony has had over the years, the PS3 is not one of their most reliable products. While not as faulty as the Xbox 360, it still has had its share of problems. This one goes to the PS3, but only by a slight margin.

Online game play is probably one of the hottest and most important things in console gaming today. Both systems offer online play, but the Xbox 360 is the clear winner here. Microsoft has had Xbox Live available for many years now and their system is feature rich and extremely reliable. The PS3 version of this is still in its infancy and has many bugs and not nearly the strong feature set of Xbox Live.

So when looking at Xbox 360 vs PS3 a couple things become apparent. The most important is that it is not necessarily the game console that will ultimately affect your decision on which to purchase, but rather which features you are looking for. If you want a system to play against friends and foes online, are a huge Halo 3 fan, than the Xbox is your obvious choice, If you want a console to play mostly by yourself with the strongest selection of titles, than the PS3 is your choice. Whichever it happens to be, just make sure that you are getting what you want before you buy.

Four Jobs to Choose From When Joining an Xbox 360 Rock Band

Tuesday, June 24th, 2008

The Xbox 360 Rock Band is a game that really gets friends and family together to perform as a real rock band. Unlike karaoke games from the past or Guitar Hero, the Rock Band game offers up 4 different jobs to choose from when creating a band.

Whether you’ve always dreamed of being a drummer, guitar player, bass guitar player or singer, this game is for you. You can play by yourself with AI band mates, or you can get a group of up to 4 people together for some fun. You can even compete online and let the world hear how much of a rock star you really are. Even if you aren’t an avid musician, you can find a lot of fun, challenge and even ego from playing the Xbox 360 Rock Band game.

Playing the Drums

Probably one of the more challenging jobs in the band, you better have some agility and speed to keep from failing your band mates. This Xbox 360 Rock Band job offers up a great work out, but make sure to put something heavy in front of the drum set. Otherwise, you’ll find that using the drum pedal can have you chasing after it. It seems no amount of hard drumming will wear the drum set, so no worries about really letting loose.

Playing the Guitar

The guitar is straight forward and is pretty easy to learn the “moves”, at least during the first part of your career. But beware that the more famous you get, the harder you have to play in order to gain fans and earn any real recognition. In the Xbox 360 Rock band game, the guitar will experience plenty of solo time, especially in songs like Mississippi Queen.

Playing the Bass Guitar

Similar to playing the Xbox 360 Rock Band guitar job, you can use the regular guitar for the job. Playing the bass guitar is easier than playing the regular guitar, and can help to get you through the hard songs that you can’t get through when playing the guitar. As with the regular guitar, the bass guitar job gets harder as you move on, but it offers some cool sounds in many song selections.

Singing in the Xbox 360 Rock Band Game

It might sound like the easiest job of all, but even some of the best singers find it hard to stay inline with the game. Although you won’t find a lot of freedom as to how you belt the songs out, the game does a great job of holding you accountable for staying on key and showing enough pizzazz.

Xbox 360 Game Reviews

Sunday, June 22nd, 2008

The world of gaming comes at a price, a big one now that the new Xbox 360 has really hit the market by storm. The system has been out awhile, and more and more people are finding themselves picking them up off the shelves.

But with the new technology of gaming systems on the market, higher definition means paying more for the games. If you’re going to shell out $60 for every game you want to play, shouldn’t you at least know a little about the game play before deciding whether it’s worth the money? After all, you can’t return a game that sucks once you’ve opened it.

Where to Find Them

You can’t trust every source that’s out there, so it’s important to know which sources are safe to go to for the information you need when it comes to Xbox 360 game reviews.

Magazines picked up off the rack at the supermarket offer plenty of information not only about newly released games, but games that aren’t even on the shelves yet. Magazines like Official Xbox Magazine, otherwise known as OXM, are perfect reads for those looking for Xbox 360 game reviews. Electronic Gaming Monthly offers up a ton of cool Xbox game information along with games for other platforms including PC games.

You can purchase these magazines one at a time, but may find a subscription to be a benefit to you. In fact, OXM offers up a monthly demo disc with their magazine subscriptions, letting you test the waters of many games before they even hit the stores. You can even find game reviews on the demo discs that share images and sometimes some game play for you to scrutinize.

Other places to find reliable Xbox 360 game reviews are websites like gameplay.com and gamestop.com. These websites offer Xbox 360 demos and game reviews along with other user friendly content such as cheat sheets and walkthroughs. Gamer reviews are usually popular on these websites, along with forums meant specifically for sharing thoughts and information on particular games.

All in all, as long as you know the resource of where you’re getting your information, Xbox 360 game reviews can really help to make sure you’re money goes to the right games without having to worry about paying for a game you may spend only a couple of hours on before putting back on the shelf to collect dust.

Xbox 360 Repair: Can This Be Done By A Consumer?

Friday, June 20th, 2008

The Xbox 360 is one of the most popular gaming systems available on the market today, and as with any item, sometimes there are problems with the console. For the consumer who has anxiously awaited the arrival of their Xbox 360, this can not only be greatly disappointing, but also frustrating.

The best way to do an Xbox 360 repair is to take it back where it was purchased in order to get it repaired properly. If the Xbox 360 is no longer under warranty, though, many consumers have resorted to finding how to perform an Xbox 360 repair themselves. If the unit isn’t under warranty, it can still be sent back to Microsoft but there is no guarantee that it can be repaired and there is a cost involved if the unit isn’t under warranty.

Looking At Xbox 360 Repair Advice

There are many web pages dedicated to providing answers on Xbox 360 repair questions. This sights offer advice on how to repair many different problems with the gaming console. By simply searching for answers, a consumer may find some valuable insights in Xbox 360 repair.

One of the biggest problems that has been reported with the Xbox 360 is “the Red Ring of Death error” that occurs in some units. This error message will completely disable the console and is a common problem with the Xbox 360.

Some web-sites that explain how to do an Xbox 360 repair will give step by step instructions on the repair, and also claim to have a high success rate of repairing units. One of the first steps involved, is opening the unit. This has to be done very carefully because if the console becomes cracked it won’t work anymore.

Many Xbox 360 repair sights give very complete instructions on just how to open up the console without breaking it. This involves removing the face plate first, and then unlocking the tabs that hold the unit together. Again, this has to be done very carefully in order to keep the unit from breaking. Many of the Xbox 360 repair sights have downloadable instructions that can be followed as the consumer is working on the unit.

Other issues that cause problems with the Xbox 360 include games getting stuck in the unit, games freezing and sometimes the disc tray won’t close anymore. Many Xbox 360 repair sights will also answer individual questions regarding problems with the Xbox 360.

For some consumers, issues with their Xbox 360 can not be resolved and unfortunately they need to replace the unit, an expense many are not prepared for. It may benefit consumers to check into Xbox 360 repair sites in order to try and resolve the problem with the unit, before having to purchase a new unit.

Behind the Scenes of the Xbox 360 Release Dates

Wednesday, June 18th, 2008

If you are a serious gamer, then you know that the next great console or game is always somewhere on the horizon. Even while you are enjoying the newest Halo release or practicing your riffs on your Rock Band game, your eye is focused ever forward on the latest and greatest that has yet to come onto the market. Xbox 360 release dates are big news for the gaming industry, and watched carefully by gamers around the globe. Of course, those same dates are also the reason for shortages in both supplies and games at times, as the demand increases faster than the supply can keep up. Let’s take a look at Xbox 360 release dates of the past to find out exactly why these shortages occur.

Xbox 360 is Introduced to the World As an effort to try to beat other large gaming companies to the punch, Microsoft announced Xbox 360 release date worldwide beginning in November of 2005. At this time, plans were to make the new Xbox 360 game console available in the United States and Canada, with availability to the rest of the world coming within just a few short months. By March of 2006, the final Xbox 360 release date would take place in the countries of Australia and New Zealand, completing the worldwide distribution of this console. This was an ambitious venture for any company to try to accomplish, and there were fears of shortages during that time as supply was unable to keep up with the high demand.

Playing the Waiting Game Another way that Microsoft and the rest of the gaming industry can profit from Xbox 360 release dates is to create series of games that keep loyal gamers hungry for more. This has been particularly seen with the Halo series, where avid Halo fans were waiting in eager anticipation for the release of the third game in the trilogy late last year. Grand Theft Auto IV is another series that the public is anticipating, with the release coming within a matter of weeks. Other gamers will look forward to the latest Xbox 360 release dates for sporting and racing games that they have learned to love.

One way that gamers will try to beat the supply and demand issue is to pre-order or place a hold on the games that have an imminent Xbox 360 release date. Many gaming retailers will offer this service to help their loyal customers ensure that they get the first crack at the newest games on the market. If you are an avid gamer who keeps a close eye on Xbox 360 release dates, talk to your local retailer about reserving games ahead of their release.

Common Xbox 360 Problems

Monday, June 16th, 2008

Although the Xbox is known for being one of the video game consoles with the least amount of problems reported, there still are certain Xbox 360 problems that can arise. Whether you are already an Xbox owner or just considering getting the Xbox 360, it is important that you be aware of these Xbox 360 problems and how to solve them.

Freezing of Game

One of the most common Xbox 360 problems is the game freezing up. When you are playing a game on your Xbox and the game freezes, basically what happens is that the game consistently stops responding. It is important to recognize that this issue is completely separate from when the console stops responding and you receive an error message, so to fix it you must go about it a different way.

The first thing you should try to deal with this problem is holding the disc by the edges, making sure that you do not touch the edges because this will only make the problem even worse. Then you want to clean the disc lightly with a soft cloth and remember not to use any chemical cleaners to wipe the disc.

Distorted Graphics

Distorted graphics is another of the most commonly occurring Xbox 360 problems. To fix this problem the first thing you should try is to clean out the disc tray in the machine. If this does not work then you will most likely have to pay a couple hundred dollars to get the problem fixed by taking it into a video game technician.

3 Red Light Error

This is one of the most feared Xbox 360 problems, but one that can be easily solved if you know the right way to go about it. The biggest issue here is cost, because for this problem alone you are likely to spend more than a couple hundred dollars just to get it fixed and get your game working like normal again.

Then there is not even a guarantee that it will be fixed at all, and so you are really almost better off buying an entire new console if this problem occurs.

Any of these problems can be annoying and frustrating to deal with, the worst part being that you never really know when to expect it. Even if you take perfectly good care of your console you may still experience problems with it, and so it is really unavoidable in some cases.
